ASICS has always believed in the positive benefits of movement for the body and mind. This is why the brand is named ASICS: ‘Anima Sana In Corpore Sano’, which means “In a healthy body a healthy spirit”. The brand's founder, Kihachiro Onitsuka, recognised that movement could improve the physical and mental health of people in post-war Japan. For this reason, the brand was founded in 1949.
